Marketing Background
I have six years of full-time experience working in higher education, healthcare, journalism, social media management, teaching English, and public relations.
DURING COLLEGE
I enjoyed two internships while studying at Asbury University (where I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in communication and business). I completed my first internship at Kentucky Educational Television (the Kentucky branch of PBS). As a corporate development intern, I gained experience with account management, event planning for 1,000 donors, and assisting with live television broadcasts.
For my second internship, I worked with the social media department at Asbury University. I uploaded 200 yearly events onto the university's mobile app which distributed weekly event information to 2,000 students, and I created weekly content for the university's Facebook and Instagram pages.
I worked at the Jessamine County Public Library for three years. I started out in the children's department and...
POST-COLLEGE
...was promoted to the public relations and marketing department, where I increased social media reach for our target audience by 37% within three weeks. I developed campaigns for emails, social media platforms, newsletters, radio advertisements, and web content.
I taught English and drama for one year at a private school in central Kentucky. Teaching grammar, literature, and theatre to middle school students was a wonderful experience.
For two years, I worked as the director of marketing and social media at GoldenQuest Comfort Retrievers in central Kentucky. I created weekly content that showcased puppy personalities for potential clients. Next, I worked for six months as the social media director and patient coordinator at Arnold Dental in Lexington, where I was laid off due to the financial effects of the COVID pandemic.
NOW
In February of 2022, I accepted a role as an admissions counselor at Asbury University. After five months, I received a promotion and moved to the Office of Strategic Communications as the coordinator of academic marketing.
Over the past two years, I have written 100+ news articles/press releases. I also have written dozens of email blasts, magazine articles, fundraising materials, ad copy, content for website pages, invitations, and posters to maintain the university's voice and brand messaging. Within eight months, I increased Facebook reach by 1,800% and Instagram reach by 273% through highlighting faculty research and implementing interactive stories on social media.

People are important to me.
I am an ENTJ and Enneagram 3w2 who loves to network, solve problems, and meet deadlines. I recognize that relationship-building is key when completing tasks.
The Clifton StrengthsFinder test shows that I am an achiever and learner who sets high goals and gathers relevant information to meet those goals. I also see connections between patterns and pieces of data. I am competitive, in that I seek to be the best in my field, and I maximize my time, by finishing projects before deadlines.
Where do I see myself in five years?
After I finish my MBA, I plan to continue my journey in the world of marketing, possibly continuing my education. (Dr. Simmons has a nice ring to it.) We'll see what happens. *wink*
